Cocheco Street Jazz
The Band
The Band
Nils Crusberg
Nils plays guitar and alto saxophone and has performed extensively in the Seacoast Area of NH - Boulder, CO - Santa Cruz, CA. The majority of his jazz training came from a private instructor in Worcester, MA by the name of Joe D'Angelo. Countless hours of woodshedding and his activity on a local level performing with the Reggae/Hip-Hop outfit "Boom Lava" have allowed him to improve his musical skills.
Karen McCarthy
Karen played trumpet through HS and college before taking a long hiatus while teaching in various public school settings and experimenting with other instruments. Since returning to the trumpet Karen has put together an early jazz ensemble and a brass quartet and sits in with many ensembles in New England. Karen is grateful for the opportunity to keep her straight ahead jazz chops in shape by playing with the Cocheco Street Jazz band.
Bruce Jarvis
Bruce's skills on the electric upright bass adds the perfect compliment to Cocheco Street Jazz and it's sound. He has extensively performed professionally in the New England area for years. Bruce currently performs with Southside Blues and with Brian Booth (jazz) at a variety of local venues and events.
Jack Lannamann
Jack's role with Cocheco Street Jazz has him holding down the rhythm and lead parts on his guitar. A master of knowing when to put the correct sounds in the proper places, he is an invaluable addition to the band. He is influenced by legends such as: Lee Ritenour, John Scofield, Jim Hall, Joe Pass, Charlie Hunter and a large variety of local performers.
Norm Laplante
The kit drummer of a jazz band has one of the most important roles, keeping everyone in time, and Norm fulfills that function in an extraordinary way. He has performed extensively in the New England area, and his experience shows with his knowledge of the arrangements and his tactful presence with an understanding of the proper dynamics.
Riv Rivers
Riv provides keyboard backing and lead parts to the band on an exemplary level. She has experience performing locally with a variety of jazz musicians, so she is one of the band's most active members of the local jazz scene. Her skills and knowledge of improvisation and expectations for the surprising directions that the music can move make her readily prepared for anything, and a much needed compliment to the band.
